adsense earnings can jump around erratically as clicks from different geographical areas provide different returns,.
I would suggest you to keep working hard and you will again see better results. These things do happen and should not let you down.
I think there's not much big advertisers now because of the economy and financial crisis but once it settled down it would probably get better. It's like that for me too. It's going down and seldom goes up to the usual pay outs. JulieV
You shall remove the ads for sometime to get out from smart pricing. You are "losing" $9 per day now, you can get only $30 per month with daily $1, but if you out from smart pricing (assume you remove the ads for 2 weeks), and you are actually earning $150 according to the information given
Google sucks like this. You can optimize as much as you want and you get a big ass increase in CTR. You have nice earnings for a few days, and then they drop your shit like a hot rock. WTF man? You can only optimize so much they will always drop your ecpm.
I've read that one of the reasons for smartpricing is that the clicks are not coverting for the advertiser So to protect the advertiser Google lowers the CPC (so Google doesnt lose the advertiser). How Google knows if the clicks are converting or not dependings on where the user came from. If they are social traffic (ie from social bookmarking sites etc... - not targetted) then they dont tend to convert whereas search engine traffic converts more.

Well, here's an update. My earnings increased from $1 to about $5...halfway back. What I did was to delete some unused blogs where I had adsense on them. Then I added placement targeting to more channels, and lessoned the amount of ads on the site. This seemed to improve the CPC's, and I plan to remove more ads, change placement and see If I can at least get things back to the way they were..
