I restarted one of my old sites exactly 7 days ago from yesterday. I'm averaging about 3-4% CTR on my adsense, but I really need to get the page views up to really monetize the traffic - I've made about $65 in the week I started this. I'm using a variety of methods to generate my traffic, all of which are white hat, but its all manual and time-consuming right now and I have a full-time job as well. In addition, I've done this before and for a few hours work, I don't think the numbers below look too bad. After one week, I've been able to drive the numbers below from ZERO: Unique Visits: 2,233 Page Views: 9,189 Here are some screenshots:
Thats good. The 0 visitors is from when (and before) he first setup analytics on his site. I imagine the traffic to be caused by social bookmarking sites. They are great for high levels of unique traffic/visitors
Looks like he is posting URLs on craigslist and probably backpage, and other classified sites. Look at analytics ...tells you direct links are the primary source of traffic. So it's safe to say that the posting are just links.. To the OP You might think its whitehat... but you are not Google, so its hard for you to speculate what Google feels about your methods. Good luck!
hmm.. wow that's amazing.. But if you don't mind can you please share the url of your site? And I'm very much interested in knowing the techniques you used for driving the traffic?
Dang! That's a whole lot of traffic within a week. My site have been up for 3 weeks now and I am only pulling 80 uniques per day. So in a way great job! But as Sem stated, you don't know what Google's thinking.
That's actually not that much...before when I ran proxies, I was able to get up to 3000 uniques in 5 days from stumpleupon + digg + link exchanges + blogs that posted proxy sites stumple upon was a huge factor in this..
Can someone tell me the difference between white hat, blue hat, and black hat? Thanks.. Also, please share techniques or its useless for us to know.
White hat techniques: Completely legal, Search Engines love you. Black Hat: Completely illegal, Search Engine will hate you and banned you! Blue Hat or Grey Hat: Somewhere in between the above two hats.
Did you use one of those Auto-surf programs? The real test will be to see if those visitor levels are sustainable.
Dunno for sure, but as I understand it there is nothing illegal about Black Hat techniques. The only problem is that such sites are in violation of Search Engines' Terms of Service; this is why if your site is Black Hat, Google will eventually remove it from their index but not take legal action against you.
