Got a personal friend whose kid is going thru chemo... ... in prep for a bone marrow transplant. This is her third bout with cancer in 10 years, and she now has a husband and a beautiful young daughter that'll be left behind if this doesnt work out. On top of that, she has around $80,000 US to pay on the surgery AFTER the insurance pays their share. [She works at a bank, but she doesnt own one.] I'm just asking you for a quick note, NOT asking for a donation A couple of us cobbled together a site for fund-raising for her, but this post is not about asking you to donate. If you want to, great, but all I'm asking is that you guys drop by the site and post a quick note of encouragement for her on the well-wishes page. We put up the site a week ago and are getting a very good response... and the fact that she sees total strangers from all over the worlds has been an amazing morale boost for her. We're still getting donations, but the notes of encouragement have been having such an outstanding effect the money almost seems incidental to the cause. That'll happen as people feel led to donate, but all I'm asking is for y'all to please drop just a quick note telling you where you're at, and post a line or two of encouragement. Today is her 24th birthday... ...so a flood of notes would be an extra bonus. At one point I wouldnt have posted this in a webmaster forum, cause franklly I'd become jaded to the idea that everyone on the net was just out for themself. The response I've seen and the sacrifices of time from total strangers while working on this has made me see otherwise... and given me an entirely refreshed perspective on the humanity of folks around the globe.
