My parents told me that once my site is up, if they ever wanted to buy something online, they'd go to my site and click an affiliate link so I'd get a small cut. Is this ok or should I tell them not to?
plz explore ur problem little bit more. Or whatever i understand ur problem u would get paid depends how ur merchant is paying, By CPA basis or click basis If it is CPA basis u get paid only on valid lead and in CPC basis u get paid on click but if these are from same IP u could be caught as in Fraud Clicks
I think thats fine! what program are you using that gets you a % of sales? what sales are you talking about?
oh, I use cafepress you make designs to put on shirts... upload them to shirts and then cafepress ships them out to whoever buys them, and you get a cut of the money =) cafepress.com *ps tell them premiumbasics referred you if you sign up* lol I just so happened to have an html banner copied and ready to post =)... but it doesnt work =) lol
No problem in that because it's not CPC .... untill they buy some things and make the payment you will not get paid and about clicking the af link... hardly matters..
If you get paid per sale then I guess that would be alright. If you get paid per click then it would be best not to let them click.
yup as mentioned above by many If CPC based not Ok as you could get banned for fraudelent links considering they come from one IP but if sale based affiliate program, Keep on clicking ....
yea as everyone said if that per sale then thats allright ,as your affiliates get money for that so he is o.k with it,but if per click then he won't get any money thats unfair to him getting clicks from same ip .
Dear Friends, Clicking on the any ad by same ip is a unfair mean to earn mony or whtever it is................. So better thing is that promot ur link throug blog signature or by other means this not a right way
If you earn per sale then it is definately a fair way. At the end of it if your friends will have to look at your site to clickthru and they may then get side tracked into other merchants products listed on your site and purchase from them aswell. What's different with a customer that you don't know and a customer that you do know. They are all the same really as they are spending money. If you are earning on a pay per click basis though then don't allow them as it can be seen as click fraud.
I would say no its not ok because say for example, one of your family members works for McDonalds and you won $1M. You wouldnt be eligible to claim the prize because your family member works for the company.
You may be getting a little mixed up here. With affiliate marketing you are helping them to promote their product and get them sales, you do not actually work for the companies that you are affiliated with. Think of it this way: I know this for a fact. Some affiliate programs allow you to purchase products through your own links and get a commission for it and a few affiliate programs don't. If it is family or not, you are still doing what you are surpose to do by promoting their products to others. If you didn't promote to your family then they are likely to just go else where and then you will lose out and most importantly the merchant will loose out. I have been doing affiliate marketing for around nearly 5 years now and I know that alot allow you to purchase through your own referral links and then there are some affiliate programs that don't allow it at all.
So, it sounds like we are both right, to a degree. It might be illegal depending on the company and thier TOS, or it might be okay. It would be best to check with the actual merchant in question.
not sure about that. wouldn't you tell your friends to buy fruit from you if you owned a fruit stand? nothing wrong with it IMO
