Fresh Keyworded Domain or Keyworded Page on Existing Aged Domain?

I am just wondering if it is better to use a fresh domain that contains your primary keyword or if it's better to use a sub page or subdomain on an existing aged domain?

So for example which would be better if my keyword is "pet toys"...

www.petsupplies.com/pet-toys.html - Where the domain is 1-2 years old

    or....

www.pettoys.com - Where the domain is a fresh registration

    ???

So, is it better to use a new page on an aged but related domain or just go for a completely new domain that contains the keyword?

I'm thinking that if there has been a site up on the aged domain that there will be some trust with the search engines and it will be easier and faster to rank for that keyword?

Well it depends on the amount of traffic for that particular term. If there is significant traffic then I normally build a whole new site for it with an keyword rich domain name but if the term only has a small amount of traffic then I'd be tempted to keep it on an existing domain while using a lot of internal linking to get it ranking highly.

That's just my 2 cents though, others might do it differently.
