I heard many times people add rss to their sites and add it to myyahoo and yahoo visits their sites more often and this helps with ranking. Is this true? If so, is "revisit after one week" metagag bad if normally pages would be visited and crawled daily? Can robot crawling crash a database by creating overload on server (?) ?
revist after meta tags come from "stone age" of SE G and Y visit far more often than such tags tell them usually G/Y and MSN come daily and crawl your entire site many times all over again each month RSS feeds certainly is the best tool to promote the site if done professinally by registering the RSS feed with all major RSS directories - specially freshy content is faster known to major regular SE since they too crawl those RSS directories your news is published after pinging them - but RSS has nothing to do with SERPS i use several RSS feeds one of them straight into Y NEWS the news is there hours after publishing - freshes first - hence for a while always Nr 1 in Y NEWS NOT Y web search but that RSS feed has zero effect about serps of the content later on more crawling simply means fresher content of modified pages and fresh content faster/sooner in all SE
that's a really GOOD question i have 4 feeds and i followed exactly the RSS howto i wrote ( because by the time i made my first feeds there were no info out there at all ) but no other got into Y except my first feed hence i use that one to publish anything really important however Y is by far NOT the only traffic bringer in my RSS success ( RSS feeds are the most successful pages on my site ) hence may be there is additional human editing at Y about who gets into the RSS NEWS page ( right side of the news page in the vertical section named "blogs beta" and may be a little bit of luck as well ? it has NOTHING at all to do with blog even if the title above the feeds suggest that - Y sends 2 searate bots out within a minute or two each time i ping for news bot my one feed in Y news is NO blog but a hand made feed all feeds except my blog feed are hand made including my newest mRSS (media RSS ) and even that one is NOT YET in Y despite my repeated attemtps to submit correctly to Y mRSS feeds so just try make a fully validated feed - have good content-news or other news and submit it and hope for the luck you need to get at least ONE feed to Y news if you find out a system pls tell me and all others as well btw G repeatedly rejected my feeds - G wants real political / financial / sports or similar news (i have human related news only)

i assume your site is the one preceeding your rss feed URL you have a ncie looking site and like most nice looking sites plenty of HTML errors some in early page and some might be fatal hence basics first - then all the rest to earn more you need more traffic more traffic is easier to get on fully validated pages re your RSS feed saving money always is better than speding money and there might be hundreds of tho0usands potential users/readers out there for such RSS feed just submit it to all RSS directories and ping them whene ver new item is out submitting to RSS directories also gets you backlinks for better PR since most of those directories have high PR and link to your domain even if for any reason you have no RSS feed in Y news - Y users still can get you into their "myYahoo" provided you create these special addtomyyahoo-buttons same for myGoogle etc
Someone mentioned above that RSS has no relevance on SERPS. Well Yahoo places more emphasis on a page that has rss (an actual feed, not displaying rss) then a page without. Yahoo see's them as some type of authority above a normal site. Maybe as an indication of fresher content. Brad

i have been living many decades without adsense I guess i could do it any time again of rthe remainder of eternity I have this site since 9 years and G never had any problem so far except that G filters the few sex pages of course but that is amway of living and doing things different from my non-US way
even crawling once a minute changes nothing at all with your SERPS SERPS depend ONLY on your own quality publisher work in view of SEO and code cleanliness and nothing else no bot never brings YOU into top ten SERPS only humans can it always is your own SEO skills and publishing skills that achieve such high goal
