Frequency of SERP updates

At my work they have a chart and record the rankings of their website based on different keywords twice a day. To me that seems very excessive!

Would you agree? And does anyone know the general frequency of when Google make changes to the SERPS?

I have many keywords that change Google search engine rank daily, and sometimes more than once during the day.

i think it's being updated daily.

because , google is arranging the serp according to the backlinks.

google is finding new backlinks or deleting backlinks daily.

because of this, serp is changing daily

For the past 5 weeks or so, I've seen SERPs change 2 and 3 times a day. I'm not talking about simply reaching different DCs, rather the same DC showing substantially different results.

For the few phrases I follow, the top 10 have remained pretty much the top 10. However the pecking order can have wild swings. One of my sites which was consistently #3 has been as high as #2 and as low as #8.

So, if the people at your work are also measuring traffic, it makes all the sense in the world to check SERPs 2 or 3 times a day. That way you can match traffic to ranking.

Im seeing more commercial auction links in the serps like ubid.com auctions etc. This must be temporary.

As Google is changing its ALGO, I see frequent changes in SERP. Even 5-6 times a day.

I check daily and usually (in fact, ALWAYS) have changes. Sometimes many, but most of the time a few, except where there is a major update.

    Yep, its too excessive.
Because temporary fluctuations can mad you most of the time. You have to look at 'trend'.

They are constantly changing. For one site in particular (my biggest earner currently) I've been checking my SERPS for my biggest keyword very frequently and the first page results are different almost every time I check.

I really don't think it's this simple. I see huge swings in rankings from #20 to #1 to #15 to #3 all within a couple of days. To me it almost seems like they are trying to shake things up on purpose just throw people off. Maybe that's a bit too "conspiracy theory" for some... but it really seems to be what is happening.
