I wonder if it is possible to get a French site indexed well in French search engines if the site has only links from English sites (but strong high PR links)? Let's say e.g. my French competitors that rank on top positions for my keyword are just PR2 - PR3 sites. I think I can easily get my site PR4 (but with English backlinks). So would that work? - Top French SEs positions with strong English backlinks only and without French links? Anyone has experience with this?
Its not only possible, but the other lang search engines consider the links more valued in some cases. Not all the time but links are links!

So do you think I could get my site even on the first page on Google.fr if I just put the link to the site into my DP signature? There is only about 100.000 competition (in search results) for that keyword. I don't think submitting my site to local directories is a good idea, now that Google started penalising sites with paid links.
