Freewarebb.com for sale

Freewarebb.com was established in Sep 2007 by myself, Mark Williamson, after I found far too many freeware download sites either didn't give a rats arse about what they promoted as "freeware" or they simply bombarded the end user with ads and misleading links.

In 2008 traffic climbed to a high of nearly 2,500 visitors per day and by 2009 we had over 780,000 visitors that year, 715,000 of them unique.

In 2010, our visitor numbers began to drop, we believe changes made to the Invision script itself were partly to blame but poor SEO (i.e. upgrade from V2 to V3 and a loss of previous friendly URLs) was also a contributing factor. As I was not able to put my finger on the precise cause, I continued with the site, adding more new downloads and creating more unique and interesting topics.

2011 saw a steady average of visitors of around 1,000 per day (354,000 total for that year) but still not on the scale in previous years.

It's my belief that Freewarebb.com is known as one of the safest, most transparent and trustworthy freeware download sites around, however it is let down by Invisions poor SEO and lack of investment in that area. For someone with the correct skill-set or time or money to invest, I believe this site could begin to challenge the bigger boys of the download scene and as far as I am aware it is the ONLY site of it's calibre to run entirely using Invision products.

Revenue for the site has dropped recently as I no longer have the time to commit to the site but in it's glory day around 2009 the site earned nearly £400 in one month and the total revenue for 2009 was £3,354 ($5390). So far this year the site has earned around £800 ($1285) although as I say, I have not had the time to commit to the site.





The site itself attracts a similar class of person, normally the more mature person who conducts themselves reasonably, and a steady amount of topics and download comments keep the site's front page ticking over nicely but the site does need an injection of good SEO which I believe could see the site earning high 4 figure sums once again each year and depending on the level of input by the new owner, there is no reason why this couldn't be increased to 5 figure sums with the right direction and focus on the site. After all, a lot of people know about FBB and know it's a well respected source of safe downloads.

This sale is a job lot, the domain and it's entire contents, lock, stock and barrel - all licenses are also part of this sale and I would be prepared to remain active on the site for a month or so after the sale to help should the new owner not be too familiar with any part of the site.
