Hi guys, I'm still at the point on my site that adsense just doesn't seem to be hitting the mark in relation to earnings and I cannot for the life of me figure out where I'm going wrong. I'm barely making enough now to cover cost's of hosting although I guess I'm not alone in that one. My problem is I've tried many formats, colours, and placements throughout the board.

I'm getting around 500 unique visitors p/day through the site and my bounce rate is slowly coming down which would indicate I'm at least on the right track with SEO and so forth. If there are any hints or tips that anyone can offer in relation to ad placement, colours, styles (ie. better to use images or text or both, etc) I'd be most grateful to hear them in relation to my site.

    My site is www.freewarebb.com.
    Thanks in advance
    Marko

IMO you need to put ads in and amongst the content ... the only adsense I can see is top right banner. Try putting something in amongst the catergories both on the frontpage and on the downloads page.

In the forums, something between the posts but I don't think forums in themselves are good at getting adsense revenue anyway ...

Fantastic site. Ad placements are up to the mark. And a small idea, you can place an ad unit(text half banner) near the download now button.

The reason I say you this is, commonly people will always search for for 'download now' button and now you will get a pretty good chance for clicking the ads. Make sure that the Pages that are opens when clicking the download now button must be open in new windo. This gives you an additional chance of getting clicks.

    Hope I helped...

thanks again for the comments guys, much appreciated - I've made a few changes particularly with the image ad now on the front page as well as within the forum area itself. I'm going to dot a few around the category area on the download section itself but I need to ammend the way that is setup beforehand so watch this space.
Thanks again and please keep the recommendations coming if anyone else can suggest anything
    Cheers

Try adding the ads inside the content.

Forum CTR is low, you will have to get a lot more traffic. Also, try 336 * 280 ad unit some where in your forum. This ad unit performs the best.
