Tax payment solely depends upon the region you belong to. If your country wants you to pay tax, you have to pay tax as per the law; it doesn’t really matter if you are a freelancer or a regular job holder. Certain freelance job sites do not emphasis on this.

The right question is: 99.50% of freelancers are not paying taxes. It is their own wrok after all, not the government work after all.

And why should the government be supported just to send more militaries and troops to invade other countries, from our tax money.

So... 99.50% of freelancers are not paying taxes.

Anyone had any problem because of that in the last 10 years?

    I don't think so

If you're a freelancer/self-employed you still have to file taxes.

You are ignoring the fact that Social Security and Medicare carry about the same weight.
This has been shown to be blatantly false many times over but I don't recall the details to argue it. But just try using that excuse in Tax Court and see where it gets you.
Yawn. Every time the *normal* economic tide goes out, people flock to forums to post such babblings until the tide returns and they find some other banner to hide under.

Where did you get that outrageously false statistic?
Are you going to pave your own roads and form your own fire department? Do you have enough money saved up for your own retirement? Hope you've got a great medical plan, too.

Actually the government gets loans to pay for all these things, your taxes just pay the interest without touching the principal balance; hence the ever increasing national debt.

The only way to end this slavery is for everyone to stop paying taxes and let the government default on the loans it should have never gotten.

In the US its easy, take 10% out of everything you make and put it in a separate bank account, or cash it out and box it. if the IRS comes to your door you have the cash to pay them out. If they don't come to the door; than by the time your ready to retire. you have a huge retirement fund saved up...

It's very true, but laws are laws.

I'm from Romania. It's illegal to do something here for someone else (even just working for him a single day at digging holes in his garden) without being considered self-employed, and in this case you have to pay taxes.

Ok does that mean there is no minimum income level for tax? If you even earn one dollar you have to pay a % of it to the government?

There's no minimum limit that I'm aware of - although I didn't have any $1 projects to be sure of it. :)

i just submit paypal pdfs to my accountant, so I would not ask you for a bill, but the UK tax department would still know that I have used your services as it would have your details on the PDF I submit - i dont know if there is anyway your country tax department would find out.

personaly, i like to pay tax as it shows that I am doing well - only thing worse than paying a lot of tax is paying nothing as you are either a) not earning very much b) cheating the system which can end up as JAIL TIME!
