I tried to work on Freelancer.com- ex rentacoder .To make it clear: on this site the workers are biding on the work offer and the buyer chooses the worker. I was happy to be chosen on offers which were claiming to be translations jobs, editing or article writing. I found out that all those jobs were actually captcha entry jobs. Those buyers are usually are Indians and they offer fake jobs in order to get captcha workers- so this site is mostly a big scam.
Wow -- I wasn't aware of that aspect. I got some quality design work done on there, but I never liked how much they wanted you to pay for. I'll steer clear now!
freelancer.com is the best site I ever seen for last 8 years. Of course, there are data entry and typing jobs which are truly fake and scams; but that doesn't mean that the website is a scam. I got paid thousands of dollars by freelancer.com during all these years. Most employers give real jobs and you have to find out who the real is by reputation (feedback). If you try to find out by google search you will be surprised to see the results. Do not go to the section of data entry at all as there are hundreds of jobs which are fake. I conveyed this message many times to support. However, nobody answered me about this. I don't know why this has happened because for every other query, the support replied within hours.
There are too many freelancing sites on which we can trust blindly but today there are too many of clients and employees, both are cheated to each other and everyone's site has its own terms and conditions. We should go ahead with positive thinks.

Yep Really BPO jobs such as data entry, typing, copy paste... are scam and worthless. But there are some guys having optimum from that. I don't absolutely know how to get the reliable job. Answers are welcome
I've worked for oDesk before, back when I was still in need of funds to start up my own online business. I've never personally been a member of Freelancer but I do know that they are one of the more popular players in the online outsourcing community. I guess, there will always be scammers in any industry. I'm not familiar with Freelancer system but it really helps to check out the feedback of your employer (if they have any) and to always, always ask questions. Maybe you can contact their support and report this type of misleading jobs? So others won't fall for their trap and get scammed too.
