Chris is one of the shining beacons on freelance writing tips. $10K is simply amazing. I have just read a few posts and it has been beneficial.
Jenn - Good question! After one year of posting my income I think it may have lost a bit as far helping others. Of course, I could be completely off base in thinking this.
I'm sure it's a great marketing tool for your freelance writing course. You're indirectly saying, "Let me show you how to make $10K freelance writing." To me, posting your income made your more than just another freelance writer with a blog.
latoya - good points! I may reconsider; I have received quite a few messages and emails asking me to keep posting the income report.
Congratulations, it's always nice and encouraging hear someone is making money from a freelance writing job. Until this monday I was not so concerned about money matters because my family and the family of my friend used to take care of me, but suddenly I woke up from a dream and decided take seriously a freelance writing career going away on my own. A friend of mine and her hubyy are now supporting me after I stepped out, but I know I will soon have to contribute with expenses, that is why I say your $9k+ achievement encourages me to work harder improving my skills to offer a quality job that pays well
Sweet. I love DP -- y'all are so good at this. Nice to know there are people besides frickin' Bob Bly who make that much money. Megacongratulations. (And watch your back. If you can do it, I can do it. )
Steve - There are tons of writers out there earning a good living. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.
thegraphicsmonster - thank you! As always, let me know if you have any questions, need any guidance, etc.
mantiz - your goal is definitely attainable. If you need any tips on how to get started check out my blog, or shoot me a pm.
Can I just say it's really helpful reading stories and tips in this forum. I started just because I had nothing better to do, and I loved writing and blogging already, but now it's really picking up for me and I'm thinking about trying to earn a living from it. At the moment you might notice my rates are so low, since this is how I felt I needed to promote myself when I joined this forum without much knowledge on the business at all. I feel passionate about offering great articles and service so I hope to find more well-paid jobs very soon in the future. As it stands, I am managing to still earn a decent amount daily. One thing that I am very confused about, and maybe someone on here can help me, is registering as self-employed, keeping track of money when it all goes through PayPal etc. I'm based in the UK, and obviously there are different rules in different countries, but any advice on how you've managed this would be great. I have just finished University, going through all my options career-wise so I am definitely looking into everything that I can. Thanks a lot! PS. I really like your blog, Chris. I just happened to find it yesterday and subscribed straight away.
mspennylane - thanks for the kind words. Send me an email via my blog if you have any specific questions!
