Hmmm...so what is the going rate for ongoing article writing? I'm interested in hiring somebody but I've been burned before. I'm sort of new to this forum but I heard I could get a 500 word article written for $5. Honestly, that's way too cheap for me to take seriously. Even if I could get a decent article written for that much I would feel bad only paying that much. Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this post but I don't have enough reputation to create a thread of my own and this thread is at least on topic. What should it cost to hire somebody on a per article basis to write a 500 word article and create a spinable version that would create a 65% unique version every spin? I am a decent writer, (even if I alone say so), but I have too much on my plate to write spinable copy for 5 Web sites. Thanks in advance, David
I'd say you could get rates of $5 per 500 words on rentacoder or getafreelancer, but it will involve a major risk. You might get lucky and find someone that writes well and is happy with those prices, but if you want the safety of quality work, you'll go with someone who's tried and tested in the arts of writing (who by the way, will be more expensive than $5, as you can imagine). I know from a buyer's point of view, writing spinned content should count as cheaper, because after all, you only need to write around 70-80% unique content. I'd say the time required to write a unique and a spinned article are roughly the same, if you're serious about getting the job done well. Still, research time is lowered, but I've seen buyers asking writers to cut their price in half, just because they're delivering a spin.
Excellent work! In all fairness, there are a lot of cheap writers (and a lot of low-paid jobs) on DP, but some writers advertise higher -- or what one could call normal -- rates, and they still have work. I bid on a project with a rate of $.05 per word, and someone outbid me with $.01. I checked their samples, and the saying that goes around on DP is confirmed: "What you pay is what you get". I think that anyone who is dedicated, ambitious and does not get discouraged by subpar offers, can succeed. And you just proved this point!
