There are so many freelance websites, however I would recommend you to stick to one or two , establish good reputation, which would ensure continous flow of freelance work for you.

we have used elance and guru

Weak dollar combined with competing with countries with lower cost of living means we are only occasionally using them now to maintain our rankings rather than a serious income source.

    try freelancersatlarge.com.

I have always found the scriptlance support staff to be excruciatingly slow and arrogant.

By the way, do check out the website which coldgangsta has posted and you will notice that he has blatantly ripped off images from both scriptlance and freelancersatlarge.com!

Isnt that what they call stealing??

Let me do all the bidding sites one better: no fees for consultants to list their services and no fees for clients to post their projects/needs. FreelanceLocalTech.com, an online directory of freelance consultants/micro-consultancies... currently USA only, but Canada will be added this weekend with more countries to follow by end of year.

Bidding sites are about finding the cheapest person to (maybe) do the job, regardless of location. Most clients I talk to want to meet with their consultants face-to-face, which you can't do so easily if your on one side of the world and the client is on the other. And local clients pay local rates, which is a big bonus if you're a consultant living in an "established economy" country.

Already mentioned but getafreelancer, scriptlance, and rentacoder. Here are some tips for getting your bid chosen or at least noticed.

    1. Try to be one of the first to bid
    2. Don't use a template for your bid - personalize and tailor your bid to the project and how your skills can specifically benefit that project. Use references if you have done something similar.
    3. The majority of people posting projects want someone they can work with 1 on 1 so trying to look like a big company with many employees will turn some people off.
    4. Give specific examples of projects that are similar to that project - posting your entire portfolio in every bid will only bury any relevant work you have done.
    5. Doing a little extra or bidding a little lower when you're starting out will go a long way.

    How about go freelance.com.
I got an interesting job offer from there, but I should pay few bucks.
I have to make sure it is a good web site first.
Any one know about this website?

Should we choose website with free charge or not?
Is the website with payment charge better than the free charge one?

    Thank you in advance.

Just a quick update, FreelanceLocalTech.com now supports freelancers in Canada and Australia. If you're a freelancer from one of those countries, we're running a special promotion on the site for you. Check it out.

As for freelance.com, NEVER pay for work. That's just plain bad for business. That's like paying to use the toilet in the airport... what jerk thinks of these ways to screw with people?

ok, thank you for the respons.
one more question: how about elance.com?
I heard may people suggest elance.com, I was trying to register, but for each category of job I have to pay. And quiet expensive I think.

But is it worth for money? because many suggests for elance.

    I am thinking of it.

    thank you in advance.

Let's get specific about your situation first:

What country are you in? Are there enough potential clients in an area that's easily accessible to you (e.g., within 50 km)? What type of work?

It all depends on your own status and needs.

Elance is good but expensive and highly competitive. You need to have a good track record and a strong portfolio to be able to compete with the big established players there.

If you are a new company/freelancer, it is more advisable to build a portfolio at smaller marketplaces which have a good presence but are not so very large yet.

Have a look at www.FreelancersAtLarge.com. I have used it several times and the customre-service is great. You pay a small commission only if you get work. Registration & Bidding are free. There are no monthly charges either.

    Good luck!
