Not sure if I am in the right forum :)

Trying to find some info regarding memory usage. Is there any way to free up memory used by idle/sleeping processes faster? I remember reading something about easy settings for more effective memory usage, just don't remember where.

This is for a Debian Linux server.

There are tonnes of windows softwares that allows you to free up unused memory. however, I do not recommend using any of them at all. just keep it to your Windows' preference setting.

Oh..... I've never come across any kind of freeing memory application in Linux either. One of the ways is to remove any packages that you won't likely to be using. :p
