Freehostia website hack!

I know before anyone says, that you get what you paid for and yes it is free. But one of my sites has been hacked and someone has put malware on my site on index page, I've cleaned it up and re-uploaded new page and requested review by Google.

But why would anyone want to infect my site with malware? And how can I guard against it in the future?

    Thanks for your assistance.

    G;)

The infection wouldn't have been personal it would just be the case that the server you're hosted on, or the code within your web site, was vulnerable to attack. It will probably happen again unless you find out how they did it. Check any programmes or scripts you are using first just to be sure it isn't something you've introduced by placing vulnerable code on the server.

It most probably had nothing to do with the fact that you're hosted on FreeHostia... if your scripts are unsecure and exploitable then your site will get hacked on any web host no matter if free or paid... so check all your scripts for possible backdoors.

Exactly as the others said, your script could of had exploits in it or your password could have been insecure.

the only script used was Wordpress AND it was updated regualrly and the password had been set with random letters and punctuation marks.
