Freehostia? Sucks?

Hey there,

Does anyone else on Freehostia notice that the servers are down, sometimes for up to ten minutes a day? Or is it just me?

How much do you expect from a free host?

 

Normally I'd say that your question is dead-on. You get what you pay for, right?

Well, they make the promise that "Free hosting accounts are on the same servers as the paid ones, so the Free plan gives you the chance to fully test our services to better decide whether to pay for it or not in the future and could be used as a life-time fully featured free trial for our paid services. "

I'm seriously contemplating using them for hosting (awesome rates, fairly reliable) but it worries me that this might continue

 

I have a site there, the servers are down almost every day but I think it's good for a free host.

I have a free account with subdomain subdomain.freehostia.com.

 

You don't get a good service with free hosts... its better to pay for your host.

 

That's why you don't trust free hosts. They are not reliable and don't have much features as paid hosts.

 

Depends really what and who the owners are for free hosts mainly they are in it for the money but well for me. I just like helping people out.

I own 2 hosts (with free hosting )

 

They are not bad, aside from the occational downtime, they offer no ads free hosting .

 

They are not too bad compared to other free hosting provider. Though It has much downtime.

 

Sorry for reviving this thread but obviously things haven't changed since 4 years ago. Their down time is hardly occasional.. They are down 50% of the time I kid you not. Maybe it only happens to MySQL since I'm running a Wordpress powered site with it.

Yes I know they are free and I use them mainly to test new websites but there is a limit to how long they go down for. A lot of precious time lost..

 

You can't expect much from free web host providers
