Hi all, I just founr freehostia.com, and it seems ideal to host a big sitenetwork of low traffic websites, for free. I'm wondering if is there any experienced about freehostia.com's free hosting, and services ? (I can not imagine, why is this free hosting profitable for them, I'm interested where is the cheat in it) Thanks, ggot
ive been experience on hosting at freehostia last year and got no problem, they're support was amazingly fast . i have no idea for now. they provide cpanel with WHCMS installed already on it.
Im on freehostia at the moment and you can do all the things on all the other plans like MySQL, php script etc, with limitation to one database. However, you cannot send emails using your @domain username, which can be quite inconvinient at times. On the whole very good, quick service.
Thanks for the infos, here is another info for you: freehostia hosts domains on separate IP addresses. So, it is ideal for building big sitenetwork of small sites.
control panel: very good, but not cpanel here (a user reply here, but that only for paid users). help/support system: excellent. they r very quick. and a email from freehostia:
I am with freehostia almost 2 and a half years. Quick Support , 99.9% Uptime , Reliable but the only Cons is only one MySql databe limit.
My experiences are not that good with freehostia. First of all, they had a big movement of all servers from Florida to California, and during that period of two days, my sites was almost 100% down. Second, uptime of 99.9% is not correct, since almost every Sunday, they turn down servers to do maintenance. Third, their reporting mechanism was down for years, allowing us to use more resources than supported with hosting plan, and then one day they fixed it and just shutdown my sites with a warning email stating that i have used 99.5% of my serources and that i need to upgrade if I want to stay their customer. Other than that, they are not bad.
