Please guide me, wht is the problem? wht shd i do? i need to take my imp files from my pc to my laptop.. Thanks.
Hmm. Check and see if other USB devices are being recognised ok by your XP machine (eg USB Flash memory key). If it is then it looks likely that maybe the drive is not getting quite enough power to spin up from your XP usb ports. I have seen this happen before. The y-usb cable that freecom mention usually does the trick. As you know, one end plugs into the drive while on the other side of the cable you have 2 usb plugs, each of which should be plugged into seperate usb ports, preferably on the back of your XP pc.
If you can see it in Device Manager then your PC is picking it up. Are you on XP Pro? If so, right click my computer, go to Manage and then Disk Management. Can you see the drive there? You may need to assign it a drive letter, windows can sometimes get confused and conflict an existing drive.
other usb drives are recognised. i dont know where i can get such y-cable. any otherway? I've asked my hardware engineer about such y-wire, but he said he doesn't know about y-Cable.
