I have to remove it! It's gotten rediculous! I can't keep up with it anymore! I'm only talking about the googlebot alert code of course in my FREEBS book stores. I have dealt with thousands of emails this weekend and today alone! I'm pretty convinced that we are ok on this part of our expectations and can remove the affirmation. Now I'll just use the site: command to check progress.
Noppid, is the googlebot alert code freeware or somthing you made? or even worse still did you buy it. That wasn't ment to sound as negative as it sounded.lol
No, it's posted here in this thread toward the beginning. Kyle422 contributed the code. Thanks go out to him. GoogleBot Alert for FREEBS - Free Book Store
You do know that Google offers the Google Alerts service, right? http://www.google.com/alerts You can put in site: or link: or any other parameters that you feel like and it will send you an email when changes are made.
A friend of mine is considering using FREEBS on a well established site, however he is concerened that it might flag somthing in Google when suddenly the size of his site increases by 2000 pages, has any one got an opinion on this please!!
I can't find one tangleble reason to back up a thought like that. It's not like you are putting out the links. G has to come into them. That does not happen in what I would call suddenly. There are plenty here with established and new sites with hundreds of pages indexed from the bookstore and only increased income and traffic have been reported to date. This is a legitimate affliate store. The web is made of such ventures in many forms. Appling a penalty for such is yet to be proven in the past that I'm aware of. Putting people's minds to rest on such conjecture is a very hard job, I don't envy you.
I just put up a second book store about law and legal books last night that has roughly 2000 items in it so far. Googlebot picked up on it today and is still adding my sports books titles to its index. I wouldn't worry too much about a mass influx of pages. I've never seen a site get penalized because a lot of pages have suddenly shown up on a domain. I've probably added 30,000+ pages to my domain (FREEBS + Another forum archive) and have noticed Google and Yahoo picking up on them quickly and are starting to index a good portion of these pages daily.
Shouldnt be an issue. Google doesnt rank a site based on how many pages it has per se (although it does like larger sites a bit more it seems). It does watch incoming links though and a jump in new links out of nowhere can trigger some scrutiny. I added the Freebs to a site and google simply ate it up. A site that had 2 dozen pages now has about 5000 indexed.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I will pass it all on and try an convert him! Just for information, I changed my bookstore recently due to UK amazon now being supported, total new install and re-name google loves it!! swallowed up 50 pages in 3 days!!
I have been just too damn busy with my day job to get back to even playing with this You gotta hate it when that other world interferes with the fun stuff
Yeah but this is a bit like having to finish cleaning the garage out when what you really want to do is install that new software and try it out
I think my store is starting to grow out of control. I'm getting a new book added to the index roughly every couple of seconds. This isn't bad, persay, but just an observation
