I know that Economical Domains has free privacy and theft protection with every domain purchase. I am not for sure of any other registrars off hand that offer this but there are some out there.

 

Namecheap is free for the first year, but you can use a coupon that brings the value down to $0.99 for the second year.

 

Anyone can tell me some other registrar?

NameCheap is the one I use for this. Very reliable, well-known registrar and worth checking out if you haven't already. Whois privacy is free for the first year, and $7.99 per year from then on, although there are coupon codes available to bring Whois Privacy prices right down.

 

1and1 has cheap domain names and free whois. A lot of people don't like them simply because they can be slow. I have never had a problem.

 

I have heard that 1and1 have a host of sever issues. Maybe you are lucky and live close to their servers, so don't see much of a difference compared to others. I personally find the website loads very slowly a lot of the time.

Avoid them. Many have had bad experience with 1and1

 

But why have they bad experience with 1an1?

Mostly because they are lazy readers to find a solution for their complains, solution usually available in their knowledge base.

So even talking about problem to transfer away, that's a myth, I have used and transferred domains in and out 1&1 with no trouble.

As per the question and besides 1&1, Namecheap offers free privacy for the first year, Netfirms for as long as you have your domain with them, same as Hostgator, but domain registration is pricey.
