I'd like to make a few websites on a free website server. But a lot of the free website hosts will delete your account if it's inactive(no traffic) for too long.

Anyone know some free webhosts that DONT do this?

    Thanks

GEOCITIES! I created my website in 2000 and ditched it, them I came back (2006) and found my files there! When it's inactive, it's placed offline, but once you activate it, your site is up and running with no deleted files.

AND there's no minimum traffic required.:D

What is the amount of time it takes to be considered "inactive"? Any idea?
Also, how many hits does it take to keep it alive? Like 1 visitor per month or what?

    I'm not sure.. (sorry)

But, here's a suggestion to have get some traffic. Try free auto-surf sites such as trafficg.com and add in "credits"/hits to the page you want to keep alive.

To keep you site up 100% with no minimum traffic, you'd need your own paid host.. that would be the easiest way.

    In regards to GeoCities:
I don't think it ever had anything to do with user activity/traffic.

There was a time a few years ago when geocities would deactivate your account if you did not edit any files on it for a year. However that seems to have changed. I have sites that I have not touched for the last two years that are still running.

Yeah, I think it's best to go with geocities. EVEN if they make your site inactive, your files are not deleted. If you find it inactive, just login and activate it, easy. IT only takes a few seconds of your time and you probably only need to do this 1, 2 years or so? :)
