Free website designs, does it work?

I see some companies offer free website designs for anyone. Why they do it? Sorry, but I don't understand.

 

Yeh. it does work. actually they are pretty helpful for beginners who start on a low budget

 

Does it mean that i can create a site there and then download on my computer hard disk

 

you need a website builder or a website design template? the difference is

Web Template : those are the graphic outlook of your website, and the free templates normally contains the design of only the homepage. some sites will give you .PSD files and html and image files.

Web builder : Programs like microsoft frontpage or macromedia dreamweaver using for creating the contents for the site. you can open the freely available template ( html ) in these programs and add your content there.

by free design u mean templates right ??

if yes they do this to get traffic and attract people and try to sell them their premium templates which cost

 

Okay, i understood now. I ment template designs.

 

free website design funda is also out of my mind as well.....i mean i wouldn't start buisiness if i dont know web design .........i will have some industry experience before i start any business....
however, once i do have enough contacts...then only i will try my luck in web design buisness world.....but again every business has its own identical marketing strategy and for some it workd better than others.....

 

Ive been creating free website templates for a few years on a site - i dont do it to get people to buy templates however i agree that many people do - i originally started creating free templates to practice xhtml/css and W3C compliance - now i just like to give them away - it does attract traffic which of course is always a good thing

Free design may be having many faults.
But you may sometimes find very few good designs too.
