I don't understand the guys who offer free web hosting services ... don't understand them very good , how they make money to pay the dedicated servers ? Ok , Adsense ? no, i don't think is working with free hosting services, probably the ctr is very low Affiliate programs ? i doubt they make so much money when people come to search a free service .... at least first 6 months but untill then you must pay 1-2 servers to host all And finally the same question , do free web hosting services make money ? in how much time from the start ? or the owners only spend thousands because they are good people ? i feel 90 % of free hosts only waste the money for spammers or others who abuse their servers .
I would think that firstly if they had budget dedicated hosting, the servers are cheap, they earn money through the adverts placed in their controlpanels or maybe a link in the users' home pages. One advantage is that they will gain a lot of back links which will enable them to sell sponsor links, I think this is one of the way they earn the money. A second way is to provide only a certain amount of space, if you need more space, you will have to upgrade. If the free provider tie up with those hosting companies for eg bluehost etc which paid affiliates very well, they can earn back the money spend on providing free hosting.
I know one host that obligate you to put a banner and now if you pay 1 euro for 50000 view with no ads so thats good
Most, but not all free hosting sites use it to either Spread there name there for eventually they'll get money for ads, adwords, adsence, etc.. They have another hosting site that already pays for the server. They're rich and have nothing else to do. OR they're just really nice Thats all I can think of
Bit offtopic, but maybe interesting to the OP; Only the non-ethical ones do; I only know of one; Zendurl.com. The old owner was a arrogant person who was being and 'expert' in the freehosting market ; he was told many times that what he did was not sustainable. And in the end we were right; he sold out and all members of those times (including me) are getting kilos of 'offers'. Most (by far) don't do that. Best thing; don't allow porn and put adsense on userpages; will make *a lot* of $. However, a lot of them do not want to do that, because it scares away new users (actually; in reality, most people actually don't care about it that much as long as it is not too aggressive). Even I used to run a free web host, And I am going to start one soon. Advantages are from the ads and when the time comes to sell the site, you get thousands of $

let's say i believe you but the profit comes in months this is way most people give up , is not 100 % profitable , some free hosts distroyed the market i think because anyone starting a free hosting business wants to make money over the night. don't you think cpanel or direct admin with ipanel is a cheaper option for a free host ? From what you said you must start with around 500 $ / month and takes moths to earn some money
i dont have idea about this one... Some of free web host that i know 000webhost.com have try to give all free... and one thing, they have affiliate page too. In condition if i have reffered 40 person, i will got $200 by paypal... lolz... Still wondering how they can get money from ...
