    Hi there,

Just a question, i need free web hosting - as it doesn't really matter for this site and i've been looking around for them and a lot of them are subdomains like this - mysite.100megfreehosting.com --> basically long subdomains.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any that were decent - with no advertising, and had something short like - mysite.ng.com.

    Thanks.

My expreience says free hosting is a no no - not necessarily for SEO but for a reason I will explain. I can get such sites indexed as well as one and one with good domain name on host for which I pay.

The problem I have encountered is that over time such sites exceed monthly bandwidth allowed and are shut down at end of month and hence have to be moved. Many free hosts do not allow users to set up a 301 redirect. Once the site is moved you have to deal with trying to get site listed under its new domain name.

There are some very chief hosts out there than offer control panel access. I think you will be much happier with one of them.

    Good luck.

I'd recommend you to go for paid hosting cos it is more secure and stable then free hosting but still if you want free hosting then try at freewebspace.net its one of the best place for free hosting and I'm sure you will get hosting there but can't say anything about the reliability, support and uptime of the free host.

Free hosting with just four letters "ifyn"
Get a free domain too by posting in the ifyn hosting forum.

lifelesspeople.com is the best hosting i ever used period. You pay for the professional hosting by earning points for posts on their forums. The hosting is professional for real and zero ads. You get cpanel and everything.
I've been with them since dec 2005 and they are much better than any paid hosting I ever had.

i believe you can get yourname.l2p.com but i use domains and never had to use a subdomain so I am unsure, but you can find info on their site.

there is almost 100% uptime also.

I never trust free hosting sites. In the end, they could pack up and go anywhere . They can also shut your site down without notice. I've been with Hostgator.com for some time now and they rock!

there is many sites offer free host like www.ahplace.com but you have to post in their forums but the good thing you get much storage and bandwidth + cPanel like any paid hosting

and you get free domain with DNS management like www.yoursite.us.to or www.yoursite.uk.to

    HI,

    you may visit http://www.shrig.com

You just have to carry a one line text ad -- (very silent ad)

complete cPanel etc, full pledged hosting account.

You can get all the space you want and all the bandwidth you want.

    Thanks

when are getting free hosting, check to see how long they been around. Most does not have a decent business model and will be out in few months. Check out Newbiesite.com. You get free web hosting when you register/transfer a domain name. NewbieSite is around for more than 5 years. Also got decent tech support and server reliability.

    Good Luck

I would not recomment a free webhosting if you going to host a revenue earning project. It will cost you more money after, e.g. backups, downtime nad etc.

free hosting is the last option to those who are new on the web. I myself, was using a free hosting before. As time goes by, you'll learn and then decide to go for a paid hosting.
