What free web development tools have you downloaded from a site like downloads.com that you have found to be useful? Please list them in this thread.
I'm good with the programming part of web development, but I am awful with colors. This tool has saved me a lot of time in trying out different colors to complement other colors on a site: http://www.siteprocentral.com/html_color_code.html
TextPad is another great free timesaver. I have it open almost all the time when doing anything with HTML, javascript or XML.
For a web developer, Firefox with the FireBug (joehewitt.com/software/firebug/) and Web Developer (chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/) Extensions are indispensable. Notepad++ is a great, lightweight text editor with tabbed interface and syntax highlighting (notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm) Topstyle is brilliant as a CSS editor. There's a free, light version (newsgator.com/NGOLProduct.aspx?ProdId=TopStyle&ProdView=lite), but I shelled out for the full version, it's just that good. The GIMP. If you can't afford photoshop, this is the next best thing (gimp.org/) Cool Ruler. Simple, yet I use it all the time (fabsoft.com/products/ruler/ruler.html) cheers Glenn
