Is their any free ways I can promote my forum to get people to sign up and start posting?

I have got 7 mods, and around 100 members already with some activity every day, I'm looking for ways to boost that up for free! Thanks for your input!

Whatever topic your forum is on, post in related forums with a link to your forum in your sig.

That being said you should have a link to your forum in your sig here, you never know if people on this forum will like yours.

Actually, it's a little bit hard to do that coz you need to try to attract people to spend their time at your forum.

Usually, it takes time... but, why don't you try these things:
    1. Make sure your forum looks great.
    2. Take care of the members. Make sure they are so discipline.
    3. Make a contest. Any members who get a lot of referrals will be the winner.

    That's all from me. :)

That's too bad. Anyway if nobody here is interested in your new forum, only thing to do is find another community where perhaps some people will. What kind of people would be interested in joining your forum?

I have had the hardest time marketing my forum as well. I have had some users sign up but it doesn't seem like I am getting a solid amount of participation in the forum. I think new forums just need a boost. Once you get those first people signed up and participating the rest just falls into place. Let me know if you would like to join my forum!

As far as a free way to go I would suggest, as said before, posting in other forums of the same topic with your link in your signature. To get some more add it to some directories and search engines that are free. Those may or may not help traffic.

Thats all I got, sorry. Forums are complicated. I cant seem to get a good one going.

Put a 'Refer to My Friend' button , or maybe you can join other forums similar to yours and ask the members there whether they want to be in your forum

Put the link in your signature. Put an arcade on your forums. Put a points system on your forum which can be redeemed for prizes (Wiids.co.uk does it) and more.

Lots of things you can do.

Whats up with you and shirts? Heh...

He means a paid poster, I suggest Forum Booster. However this forum is about FREE ways so it really does not matter.

Just go around from form to from advertising it.

Well, the 100 members I have post every day! So I am pretty happy about that, and we are listed in the top 5 under a ton of terms for the forum. Things ranging from SEO all the way to movies. But that just is not enough! I want to have tons of members on the forum all the time. ;)

firstly put more effort to rank it, then get a high PR.
then, most likely more user will signup :)

Here's an idea...not sure how effective it would be but maybe it's worth a shot...

Take a popular thread in your forum and write an article about it. Then submit it to several article directories. In the author's bio box have a call to action like, "Did this information help you? Get more useful information like this and a whole lot more at the <name of forum>."

Dunno, the ban hammer seems to be coming down a lot more lately.

The only problem I see with this is if the blog is not information related but entertainment related. Its a very good idea though, I might do that. I never thought of that.

Thanks for the fresh idea on promoting a forum Travis. I'm going to try that for a forum I launched last week.
