I have a freeware program (you can find it in my sig), and I want as many people as possible to download it. I downloaded robosoft and submitted it to 300ish download directories, netting me a handful of users. I also handsubmitted it to download.com, but that will take two weeks for it to appear there. I'm looking for something to do meanwhile. Once people download the program, I think that they tend to like it. The problem is getting the word out. For right now, I cannot afford to pay to market this program, so if possible, I'd like free ways to get lots of people to download a potentially useful program. Does anyone have any ideas of how to market it?
