Ok, I think this is a good way to get some links. Why don't you just create a blog and write a few posts, and you can talk about your other sites, your favorite sites, or whatever you want. Right now, there is only like 5 other blogs on the server, so it's fast. Yes that means it's new, but that's good because it gives you a nice site to link to your own sites. You can pick just about anything you want as the subdomain for example my name is bill, hence the bill.checkmyhead.com you can make a blog called carrotjuice.checkmyhead.com if you want. My blog is at http://bill.checkmyhead.com if you just click on the get Get your own free Blog right now at CheckMyHead.com you can get a free blog in like 5 seconds.
He meant that linking to a site from a site with a page rank of 0 (zero) and no traffic would serve no benefit to your site. Sure you'll get a link...but you ca just submit your site to a free web directory and get the same benefit.

Linking of site to PR 0 and no traffic would not give benefit to a site. But you are right that blog and social bookmarking is the good way to get some links.

Really? I thought having a link on a website that was not just a bunch of links was good. On a blog you can talk about whatever you want to link too, so Google looks at that too. seems like a few people think it's a bad idea, but seems like sometimes you need to do a "little" work to build links to your sites. well either way, even if you guys just want a nice site to blog, it's a fast server and a nice install of wordpress mu with a photogallery, snap preview, and more to come, you can get in now or I guess just wait around and only post on pr5 and higher.
Its not a bad idea in terms of PR because every little helps. Its a bad idea in terms of creating a link farm. I would stay away from linking a bunch of your own sites together, especially if they are on the same IP. You might not get penalised but the benefits would be minimal.
Well I don't know about links, but it's a interesting subdomain for a blog, looks a bit more attractive than blog.blogspot or blog.wordpress I'll make an account
wow, lots of new blogs getting made, thanks guys, hopes it helps everyone. I'm actually building a new server to replace the one it is currently on, but it's still on a very fast server, but the new one is going to be housed in an old MCI center, that has some serious bandwidth coming into it. Of course, I will backup and restore, so whatever blogs get created now will get moved, it will be transparent to everyone so don't worry about that. I just started checkmyhead.com so I have a feeling it is going to move up in PR and I got some good links pointing at it right now, and with the help of dp I will get some more links pointing at it, and really get it moving.
but then for building traffic, and getting indexed and getting pr, you will have to work for it! you just can't make 10 blogs and use them as a backlink provider for your sites! a pr0 blog is worth nothing, in terms of backlink, then if it is not indexed in google or any other search engines, it means it is a complete waste. and there is no traffic on an unindexed blog! i only give value to search engine traffic!! that's the real traffic! it is better to ask for link exchange, and get some blog links, that will help a lot. get some pr4+ established blog links, it will help you a lot!
