Pretty much what the title says. I'm all for free eCommerce softwares but sometimes it can get pricey if you're really serious about opening an internet business. Take Magento for example, great features but most of their free themes are monotonous and washed out and that's not all. If you plan on upgrading or trying to fix a bug or looking for a custom theme or paying for a dedicated server because Magento is notorious for being slow, it could cost you a lot of money down the road. The same can be said with paid eCommerce but I haven't messed around with paid eCommerce softwares such as BigCommerce, Shopify, X-Cart, Volusion, etc. so I can't really make a firm decision here. Free eCommerce: - Magento - Prestashop - Zen Cart - Virtue Cart - Uber Cart - etc. VS. Paid eCommerce: - BigCommerce - Shopify - Volusion - X-Cart - etc. Your thoughts?
I personally hate virtuemart, and prefer use of cs-cart, however it's not free and I haven't tested many others.. I just spent the most time on figuring out cs-cart so I stuck with it. So far no dramas.
