In an effort to keep the identities of BitTorrent users hidden from studios and record companies, a Netherlands-based company has launched a free virtual private network (VPN), ItsHidden, that is currently in beta stage. The website TorrentFreak reported over the weekend that the service not only prevents copyright holders from learning who is transfering files but also encrypts the connection even between the user and ItsHidden's servers to prevent anyone from learning who the downloaders are. The operators of ItsHidden are also apparently trying to cloak their own identity as well. The TorrentFreak account quoted someone whom it identified only as "David," who remarked that the VPN "has been created to put some rights back in the favor of the user."
