To be totally honest with you, I'm not spamming this link all over the internet to make a quick buck off you guys. I'm posting this up here because, as a fellow webmaster who has struggled with getting traffic to some of my websites, I think that this tool can help. Correction: I know that this tool can help. Why? Because, in early 2006, I already launched this website and it took off! I know a bunch of you are probably thinking "just show me the website already!!" so for you guys, here you go: http://www.randomtoplist.com (I don't think I can do live links just yet because I'm still a new member, sorry) Now if you want to hear more about this website, read on here. As I said, I originally launched this website in January 2006. I had a new fresh idea of how to make this toplist actually worthwhile for the members. I explain it in great detail here: http://www.randomtoplist.com/toplist/index.php?a=page&id=about1 But I'll summarize it here in this post. The classic problem with toplists is that the biggest websites always stay at the top and the little ones always stay at the bottom. With hundreds of members, nobody ever sees the ones on the bottom. But I solved that with this website. Twice a month, I deliver 24 hours of all of the traffic into the toplist straight to a "winning" website (with a counter so the traffic can be quantified). One of the winners is chosen completely at random (I seriously use a random number generator to do it) and the other is chosen at random from the top 10% of websites as rated by unique hits in to the website (this is to encourage sending traffic into the toplist). The problem is that, when this was running a year ago, it got overrun by spam and I just couldn't keep up. Also, I had personal issues that prevented me from having the time to devote to this website. Now, however, I have enabled a number of anti-spam tools on the site so that you can be sure that all of the toplist members are genuine. Also, as long as you are a genuine human with a quality website, you wont have any trouble signing up. Now that the site is established and already has a Google Page Rank of 3, I'm excited to get back to the hundreds of members that used to be in this toplist. The toplist is 100% free to join and the only thing that is required is to post the button image that you are provided with upon sign up (hosted by me so it doesn't cost you bandwidth) on at least one page with actual content on it (a page full of toplist buttons or something like that doesn't count). Remember, the more unique traffic you send into the toplist, the more chance you have to win the free 24 hours of traffic so button placement matters.
