Has anybody managed to submit to Yahoo directory for free? We all know they allow the option but anybody managed to get listed? If yes how did you do it? I tried a few times without result.

I was able to get listed. I'm not sure I did anything special besides provide all the information I could that they required.

    I suppose I was lucky?

I got listed in the directory about six months ago. It took about three weeks. They even change the directory heading they put me which I thought was inapropriate. They did that in two days. It's the only time I've been at all satisfied with anything yahoo does.

I found most of my sites that have DMOZ listings eventually get listed in the Y! directory for free. I've never asked for a y! listing, but have several now.

I have a site that's been listed in DMOZ for approx 8 months and it is not listed in the Yahoo directory. That would be nice, though! :D

I have tried a free yahoo listing for 6 of my dmoz listed websites, got only 1. Atleast it's not a recurring $299 charge, so I am happy. :)

All my sites are content sites/portals/blogs/etc. I don't have any shopping carts and I'm not trying to sell anything. That might be why the y! editors grabbed on to my listing so quickly.

    Sample Yahoo Listings

    Sample DMOZ listings

Not sure where the y! grabbed my listing from honestly.

That's just it, I never submitted to the Y! directory.

I have thousands of readers, perhaps one of them, or perhaps a Y! editor is one of my readers. I really have no idea how I got listed in the yahoo directory because I never personally submitted it.

How do you submit a site for free inclusion in Yahoo directory? If you go through the standard 'suggest a site', it always go to a page where you have enter a credit card number...
