Free Submission Question

Hi, when you submit a free link, how long does the link stay in the directory.

Are they lifetime links or do they expire after a certain period?

    Thanks in advance.....

I don't understand this question. If its a free link then the directory owner can remove the link anytime he wants to. Heck, I've paid for lifetime links before and now there no where to be found.

Free inclusion is 99% for good.
Your site will be listed for as long as you're going to keep it online.

Some directory scripts will purge old links after 5 years but it is up to owner to have that option active or not.
Most of directories owners don't remove them at all to keep their index full.

Even some paid directories will give you life time listing but you must be careful about that and always read ToS.

    :)

Varies between Directories and their Rules. I Guess most of them follow Professional Ethics.

Usually Free submissions contains very very less percentage of Quality Sites. To fill in Directories what new Directory owners does is they approve 80-85% of the submissions. Then they either set an expiry date or remove those links at later review. Again, this is from my experience knowing around 5-10 directory owners personally. I do not say everyone are like this. :D

Anyways, we at DiveWebb.com follow strict rules and ethics for that. We make the decision (List or Reject) at the First review itself. Once Listed we keep them for the time as announced in the submit page: http://www.divewebb.com/submit.php. When we approve we sets the Expiry as announced that time. After that we wont change that.

I hope most Directory owners are keen on accpeting Quality Links these days. So they should be for 1 year I guess :)

Just like with paid directories it varies from site to site. Read the terms of service and most quality directories will explain their policies.

There are only few directories which provide your link for a long time, you have to search for it.

Every 4-6 years directories get rid of some links that are dead. So, keep your site online and everything should be good. Besides, in 5-10 years, I'm pretty sure seo will be dead and gone. Ride the seo gravy train while it's still possible and squeeze it for all its worth.

Usually it's 1 year. But de facto it could be more or less. It depends on directory owner.

    Hi,

When you do any directory submissions, during the submission time there are options such as free or paid, and when you go with the free submission the directory considers you for an specific amount of time and then it may remove your listing if the owner does not found that listing to be genuine. :)

I think it depends upon the way you are submittiog such as free, paid or reciprocal. I think for free submission if the admin of the directory finds it relevant then it will be listed for permanent otherwise they will remove after some time.

From my opinion, the links stayed hardly 6 months or 1 year. Most of the people booked domain and trying to get backlinks and some pr by installing directories on the domain. After some months they convert it to the website. So free links are not life time. Sometimes the database crashed by virus attack or any reason. Then admin install the directory again with fresh database and the record finished. This type of issue comes always. So you should not consider a free link a permanent link.

It varies from the directory to directory. See directory policy on free links, and you will probably find it there.
Or tell us what directory you are asking about, maybe someone knows

There is no guarantee if your listing will remain forever for free submission, it all depends on the judgment of the editor or directory owner.

Just to give you an idea, as a directory owner, I don’t rely alone with submission, especially if your directory is new and empty, I usually look for quality Web sites and list them myself, this will tell the kind of directory you have by the quality of Web sites you list and accept.

So if you want to increase your Web site’s chances in staying in the directory for good, submit a quality Web site, and as mentioned above, you will remain listed as long as you maintain it online and its quality, this is also true with paid submissions.
