Hi folks, I've finally finished a site I have been working on (on and off while I was a student) for a couple of years now. It can be found at: The Uni Shop. The site is aimed at students at university who would like to buy or sell things, and can find things like accommodation etc... Please can you give it a whirl and let me know what you love and hate about it! Thanks a lot! Sham. P.S. Please create a free advert on it, so you can review a nice "feature" which I don't believe exists anywhere else on the internet!
agh....it's so wide and white! I hate these kinds of CMS, like the vbadanced one (i dont know if yours is one) but it's just too confusing, i have no idea where to look. i suggest a book called, don't make me think, reveals a lot of stuff of how the 'average' user uses a website.
Doh, ok, thanks for that. Just out of curiosity, does everything appear white on your pc - or are some parts a light shade of grey? Also, what resolution are you running at? As for the cms, it isn't one really... well, it is, sort of. I created all the layout, backend etc from scratch - and made the main page look familiar, like osCommerce (are there any legal implications of that?) Thanks for the honest opinion though - this could get interesting if more people feel the same... Cheers, Sham.
im running at 1600 x 1400 so that may be why it looks so wide it just reminds me of this http://www.vbadvanced.com/ i'm personally just sick of the 'module' look..just doesn't feel designed at all to me (no offense )
Wow, your monitor must be like, a million inches wide! I thought my 19 inch was running big at 1280 x 1024! But yeah, i've checked out that vbadvanced site and it does look freakishly similar to my site. Maybe I had seen it years ago and subliminally factored that into my design. Ok, design aside - how about the premise of the site, and its potential etc? Would you ever see yourself using it? Would search engines welcome it? Ta.
Yeh for now yes. It would only take a couple of changes in code to make it applicable to the whole world though - but I doubt my budget hosting would handle that amount (i.e. greater than 10) of traffic hehe... cheers.
sir, though color combination is a subjective issue, I would recommend rethink on color, and you have used too many different font size, which gives (to my mind) a relatively odd look First step to mova to Canada Register Free for Import / Export / Free lancing
Thanks chawlars. I notived you registered on the site too! DId everything work out ok during registration? was it intuitive and simple to do so? Cheers.
gray and orange work together as complimentary colors, but i would recommend putting some more images on the site... just to add some life to it. otherwise, i like the layout, it's simple... it works.
