But I do know a thing or two about SEO, so let's take a look: Do a Little Spring Cleaning- One of the first things that I noticed is the large amount of CSS formatting in your html. If you are unfamiliar with CSS, this is the stuff that gives your website its look and feel as far as colors, placement, etc. Take a look at the source of your website by pressing CTRL+U and find the line that looks like this a few rows down: <!-- /* vBulletin 3 CSS For Style 'poker' (styleid: 2) */ This is the beginning of the "style sheet" as CSS files are called. This can be moved to an external file and taken out of the actual html, thus reducing the filesize of your homepage. This is beneficial because Google doesn't like to wade through lots of stuff before they get to the content of your website. In a text editor simply cut all of that stuff out as one large chunk out of your html up until the end tag: //--> Then you can place this in its own file with a .css extension and call it from the html. If you have a webmaster this is very easily done, if you want to do it yourself or are a little confused PM me and I will explain. I am going to be publishing a tutorial on how to do this pretty shortly. Choose Your Words Wisely- Anything to do with betting is wildly competitive online, so you are going to have to be very creative in choosing the keywords you would like to rank for. The key is to find a small niche phrase that will get a smaller percentage of traffic and dominate it. From there it is far easier to move onto bigger things in the long run. For your site I used the wordtracker tool to find some smaller phrases. I came up with "gratis poker forum" because it gets a fair amount of searches and your site has a comparable amount of links pointing at it as the number one result for the term. This will make it fairly easy to become number one if you begin a serious SEO effort. Tying it All Together- Now that you've chosen your phrase its time to make sure that phrase pops up a lot on your site. I would put a headline toward the top of the page with "gratis poker forum," for example, and then would make sure that phrase was also in my title for the page. Ask anybody linking back to your site to use the phrase "gratis poker forum" in their link anchor text. I hope that these few tips can help you to jumpstart your SEO campaign. Your field is very competitive but if you can choose your niche well you can make a lot of money. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help.
Hey betatype. Thanks for taking the time to check out my site. A lot of what you have said is very helpful. About your keyphrase "gratis poker forum", we have chosen the phrase "poker is rigged" because it is uncompetetive and we rank high (#1) on google for it. It's highly searched but we have recently dropped to #5 for some reason??? Also we try and rank high for "poker forums" which is a far more competetive phrase. We'll start posting that phrase on the front page etc. Thanks again, and I'm sure we'll talk again about SEO in the future
