But the free ones take months to approve and some submit links directory will not approve your site if you go FREE submissions.

Are these search engines used by anyone ever? And why do you have to submit your site to them? Isn't that what you had to do back in 1996?

 

You wont get any traffic from them anyways

 

I would think that answer would actually be no, but amazingly I do get traffic from some of them. It is only a minor amount, but added up it makes it worth the time for the submissions (as one you have submitted you have the potential to get traffic basically forever or as long as the engine is around).

The reason you may want to, you do not have to submit to these engines is that they have limited resources to actually crawl the Web. So, they may find you, they may not on their own. This just helps make sure you are included and speeds up the process.

You are correct, you probably will not get a lot, but I find it to be worth the minimal amount of time I have to put into it - others may not, so they should not feel as if they have to and/or even comment about why they do not need to - we trust that they don't care.

Also is there a penalty to use the auto submitter and then manual knowing that there will
be many se's that get submitted to more than once? Just want to know if this will be
good for my site nor not?

 

Just updated about 20 of the engines (updated links and removed a couple that no longer offer free submissions). Happy submitting...

 

Is there a need to actually submit to search engines? Some Search Engine submission services offer to submit monthly to over 75000 search engines.

Will my PR go up if I do this?

 

No problem, but please (everyone) if you see any broken links and/engines that are no longer accepting free submissions please bring it to my attention so I can make the updates for everyone as I cannot check the entire list every week and need a bit of help keeping it updated (I am to busy trying to find new engines).

I know, I was amazed also.

It is best to submit manually, but I started to provide the automated submissions links because some people like them (I prefer all manual submissions).

Having your website in multiple search engines can't hurt. Having as much traffic as possible from these 2nd and 3rd tier search engines creates more traffic. Not much, but better than none.

Hey gang, just a quick update. I went through and cleaned up a lot of the engines that people had told me were not accepting free listings anymore and/or just died (or no longer accepted listing period). This should help make going through the list a bit easier.
