Free Press Release Resources and Templates

I had been running a site for All Info About on Marketing and PR issues (still am, but I'm pulling it soon w/ things moving to my own site). While the site isn't done completely yet, the press release resources are moved, and I just wanted to announce they're now available through http://publicrelations.bizammo.com. There's a free template and articles on how to write a press release, pr writing tips, online distribution, and a list of newsworthy press release ideas. I'll probably move on to other content areas before I expand on releases again since there's not much info yet, but if there's something else specific you'd like to see, feel free to let me know and I'll work on it. Well, I hope at least something there is of use to the DIY types here. :)

That's some good stuff, I like it!

One question: is there a general length a press release should be?

Yeah well, not a terribly "exciting" area. :)

A press release's length can vary, but look at it this way. Your release should be able to be distributed manually, even if you don't intend to do it (you'll usually get better results if you do). So a good guide is to write it in a word processor w/ letterhead or other contact info there, and space it out into one page. (10-12 pt font) It's rare you'll ever need more than that unless you're attaching addenda like photos and such, and the key is to give them enough to interest them, but still leave them wanting to know more, to try to hook them for an interview or fuller story. Anywhere from 300-600 words can work out well, but that's pretty general.

What a coincidence, I've been there too :)

And to Pottsville, but I can't remember which is by Philly and which is by Harrisburg...

    Anyway, thanks for the tips!

Pottstown's closer to Philly. A lot of people get them confused. :) Now here I was thinking I live in a sad little corner of the universe no one's heard of, and apparently everyone's been here at one point or another. lol Ironic.

Come on now. Pottstown is not that bad!!! And the pottstown girls are the wildest girls in the area :D Don't ask me how I know about this.

Anyway, thanks for the resource. I need to write a few press releases but was a bit too lazy to do it.
