I haven't put 'em up yet!

The way it works each year is I try to come up with some new type of theme for the front yard that slopes down. While there is only so much you can do, I've done a pumpkin and a ghost/BOO - Christmas has been more varied. The base outline doesn't vary much, and for sure the HULK is going back up on the 2nd floor balcony - I'm trying to track down a really good spotlight to highlight him - I have a 10,000,000 candlepower battery light that I might use, but I'll have to bypass the batteries since it operates off of 12V.

So then I go down to my holiday lights storage facility which has ... welllll ... a lot of lights. I grab a bunch of stuff and start tossing it out there. It changes as I go along, but I eventually reach the point where I say "OK, that's enough" ... and then I count the lights. I actually have been doing that all along since I have to be careful about pulling too much power - this becomes quite an issue with 20,000+ lights at Xmas where the total draw can be 80 amps or more - your breaker is fused at 15 amps and I don't like to draw more than 10 amps - yes, the wires do get warm! ;-)

Hope that's helpful - as stated in the first post, my guess is that it will be similar in magnitude as previous years, although Bugville (930 lights) is a new addition that is going out there.

If I get it exactly right I'm still not sticking my hand in your pocket for $100.

I'm a bit behind schedule, so it will be a few days before I have a final light count (and declare a "winner" for that PR7 link) ... just starting to put the lights out this weekend - I turned on the halloween decorations webcam in case you want to see the progress - feel free to comment on the halloween blog

Attached below is a picture of my buddy "Frank" - I plan to put him on a controllable circuit so people can inflate/deflate 'em via the web.

It's HOT ... plus the wasps are out in force as I noted on the halloween blog, so I won't be putting the roof lights up until tomorrow.

I'm wrapping up for the weekend - probably about a 1,000 lights up ... but a lot more to come. One "powerful" light will be the Thor-X 10,000,000 candlepower spot light this evening between 8:00-9:00 MDT (just over an hour from now) - be interesting to see how well it lights up the HULK!

But that only counts as ONE light! ;-)

The next logical milestones are 20k or 25k so I am going with over 25k

FYI: I've got most of 'em up per the attached zoomed in picture. Current light count is 2,309 (the "9" comes from large wattage bulbs that I don't count as strings) ... but I still haven't deployed bugville yet ... so the count will be at least another thousand higher than that ... I might be done by the end of the week, so toss in any updated guesses and/or swing by the halloween blog and leave a comment.
