Hi guys, I built this super cool and unique wordpress arcade theme with very cool features and a very clean and pretty interface. I'm wondering if I should sell it or give it away for free but add several links of sites of mine to do link building. In the other side, if I sell it I will make money to buy traffic and advertising. So... the egg or the chicken?

It depends how much you wish to customize your website. IF your are happy with the free ones, then go for it.
there are so many free wp themes that I don't see the point of buying one, just if you are a company or something.
You can sell it and make some money, but it would be better to offer it for free and then charge if someone wants customizations or to remove the copyright link or something like that. By offering it for free you can start building your cred as WP themer and then eventually start selling premium themes.
I second that plus one can provide encoded footers that can be unlocked for a free. The footers can be sold.
If its very cool and you think that everyone will like it, then I would suggest to add link in the footer to gain backlinks
IMHO, best way for you - try to sell your wp theme and if profit in your opinion will be low then free distribution makes sense.
for me, prefer to free resources. free wp theme even better than paid one. who want to pay if can get the free one?
The egg of course..emm or was it the chicken? I wonder. I think it would be better to build link first because as they said link is the currency of the net. Then after you got links and traffic hopefully. You can start build more themes and start a solid design business.

There are many free and paid wordpress themes, if you want promote your design you can offer as free theme.
