Free Open Source SEF Article Scripts

I'm looking for a good open source script to make a website like ezinearticles. It doesn't have to be that complex. In fact, the more simple, the better. Please let me know of any that you like and why.

 

I've come across articlescript.org which is cheap, but it's not free. Anyone know of a free one?

articledashboard looks like a good simple clean script which is what I want. Has anyone tried this script?

 

I dont know about the latest version, but prev versions of Articledashboard had some security issues (spam being sent from your domain). It also encodes all the php files, and the articles in the database.

Probably best is if you install a few scripts on you local computer, and see which ones you prefer.

 

That's a very nice looking script. Is the only requirement that I leave a backlink in the footer?

What a great script!! You say in your pages that one is not allowed to edit the PHP code for this script and you say above that you must keep the footer link. To me these two things are different somewhat. Can you clarify for me? I tell you why, I would like to make a joomla extension with your script - in other words wipe away headers etc (keeping a permanent link to your site of course) and integrate it into my site. Is this allowed?

You can do all those things you mentioned, everything can be controlled in the templates. (the templates can also contain php code, you are of course free to modify those)
I just do not want people messing with the actuall php files on the server.

postguy: cheap, but not as cheap as free, as the one a the top of the topic is. The address/demo you posted is not even pleasing to the eye, quite an offensive website, so I really would not consider handing over 70 dollars for this.

From one admin page, you can do it all, change themes, colors, logos, etc.
I do not see that one would ever need to go to cpanel and get into files to make any changes, add anything, etc.

It is free.

 

So that is your script The face is because I ummed and Ahhhed, and opted for Articledashboard, but boy am I now sorry. With 90,000 articles in it, the site is now unusable. It is taking 20 seconds for the page to load, and is a right dog. On top of that you now tell me that basically my articles are worthless as they are encoded and can not be transferred to another script, is that right ?

I even installed your script, and right at the last moment decided to use article dashboard, as I thought it would be easier for me to change the look of.

I cannot really see why the articledashboard script would take so long to load, even with 90 000 articles.. Are you sure it is not an server issue or something on your end? (there are quite a few articledashboard directories with 30k or more articles, and they didnt seem too slow)

About the encryption, yeah that is quite a bummer. I tried to write a converter, but even the articles in the database is encrypted.
All is not lost though, it should not be too difficult to write a site crawler to get hold of all the articles. Whether it is worth all the trouble is another question though.

 

No it isn't the server, I have a forum on there that gets 1.5 million page impressions a month and it is not being affected at all. I have a terrible feeling that they guy who installed the articles has screwed up the database somehow.

I spoke to a friend who recommended the script, and he says that if you search the database it really grinds to a halt once you get over 50k articles. I can see I am going to have to dump this and start all over again, as the site is now worthless. Spiders will not crawl it, and people will not view it!
