Late last week I released BlackBookSingles.com, a 100% free online dating service. I'm still trying to build up the member base/number of profiles on the site, which is going very slowly so far unfortunately. As such, I thought I'd ask what others do/don't like about the site to see where I can improve and coerce others to join when they first come across the site. One thing I know I'll be adding soon is a "Recent Members" section on the homepage that shows a few recent profiles that have profile pictures uploaded too. I think it will help give some incentive to visitors on the fence about joining. If you're looking for a sample profile to see what that part of the site looks like, here's mine as an example. Thanks for any and all feedback!
Really? No feedback? I thought DP was supposed to be a good developer forum, but the last 3 threads I've started have had zero responses.
...there is already a dating site called black book. I think you would see much more results with an original name. blackbook has been seen by millions of people and received over 10 million sign-ups. so i wouldn't expect it to get big - and i also wouldn't expect to sell it for much. nice site, bad choice for the name. i would change it if i were you.
Thanks for the response. I checked out blackbook.com, blackbook.net, and blackbook.org, and none of them were dating sites. Doing similar google searches for "black book", "black book dating", etc. also didn't result in any dating sites with the name you mentioned. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction with regards to your post? Thanks again!
Everythig is cool about the site. But one thing you should remember there are lot free online dating sites available. There users get thousands of profiles then y should they come and join your site. For that You must keep something interesting.
I would use some type of social network advertising, perhaps that would work? Even advertising in dating communities or single forums, perhaps that will improve your member stats. The site is good, nothing really wrong with it...just that it needs to be exposed to people.
