Free Marketing Ideas ...

Anyone have any good "free" marketing ideas ...??

A few other ideas I have seen on other forums include:

    1) Leaving business cards on the table when dining out
    2) Email signatures ... respond to everyone when you get one of those "mass" junk emailings (I personally do not like this one ... but I thought I would share it nonetheless)
    3) Including business cards when mailing out bills, etc.

Anyone else want to chime in??

There are literally hundreds of free ways to market a product or a website. Off of the top of my head:
    • Post flyers
    • Word of mouth
    • Free consultations
    • Write content free of charge for other websites in return for a plug
    • StumbleUpon exchanges

Flyers are a good idea ... I forgot to mention them ... we've tried them as well ...

Word of mouth of course is a wonderful thing ...

Has anyone ever tried a "referral campaign" ... basically paying for referrals that lead to a sale ... then letting that person "advertise" if they so desire ... and it would be up to them how to split their referral fee if they passed along a referral from a sub-referrer ... so to speak ... if that makes any sense ...

Have not heard of StumbleUpon ... but I will look into it ... thank you ...

Have to "dig up" that long lost English major and put it to good use ... (smile) ...

lol Never heard of this before. Has anyone ever tried it?

I have heard alot about flyers but is this a realistic method of getting decent traffic? I wouldn't think so...

Word of mouth is huge, I do free VistaPrint postcards and business cards, not totally free, but damn close (when you buy them for *free* then pay the cheapest shipping.

This was something we started doing recently (leaving business cards on the table while dining out) ... so it has not had any impact ... yet ... but others have weighed in on other forums that they have used this technique successfully ...

Someone suggested personalizing it a bit by jotting a quick note on the back of the card ... something perhaps along the lines of ... "thanks for the great service ... please accept 20% as a token of our appreciation" ... etc. ...

Now that is of course if you truly DID get the "great service" ... and is probably not a good idea to leave INSTEAD of a good tip ... but as well as ...

That is the funny thing about business cards, flyers, etc. ... you never know where your business might come from next ...

How long does it stay on the table before the busboy pushes it, along with the dirty dishes in his buspan? :p

Maybe they will leave it for the next guest ... maybe they will pass it along ... maybe they will throw it out ...

You never know ... but for as cheap as you can get business cards printed up ... it never hurts to leave one ...

Sponsor or give free products to clubs, groups, or teams of people that may use your stuff.

Get people to do reviews of your product or service.
