    Hi Everyone,

    I've decided to sell my free hosting website 101FreeHost.com.

    2890+ Registered Users and climbing everyday - growing fast
    22k+ Uniques per month across the network - growing fast

    Description:

    This site was started back in early June.

    Its a free website hosting provider. Revenue is made by promoting people to upgrade their hosting to Hostgator. They give affilates $50 for each new customer. Also, if you send them more than 20 per month they will give you $125 for each or those customers. Pretty good!

    You can also force advertisments on the users webpages, you can place your adverts on the top or bottom of your users pages - for example google adsense or adbrite or whatever.. I don't do that but I do use PayPopUp.com.

    It uses Layeredpanel.com script, and for $41 per month they also host the site. They give a great service and I've had no problems.

    Why Am I selling?

    Main reason is I have lost interest in the site. The revenue would be a lot higher for somebody if they put in a bit more work than I have. Better promotion of the Hostgator upgrades to the users will produce results, also placing CPC adverts on users pages would see good returns.

    The reason I have lost interest in the site is that I am working on 2nh.com, its a year in the making and needs all my attention right now to launch. I'm pretty excited about that site :) I also have a full time job that has become more full time than I would like - long hours!

    Revenue Per Month:

    hostgator

    $300

    PayPopUp

    $53

    Advertising:

    No paid advertising ever done. Just posted it on some forums, listed in related directories. I do force a link to the site on the bottom of every users site.

    PageRank/Alexa

    2900+ forced links on users sites so I would expect good PR soon. Plus lots of search engline indexing of users sites with the 101freehost.com domain.
    Alexa is 347,073... This goes up and down a bit (mainly down!)

    My BIN is $3,000 paypal.

    Why Buy?

    Established Free Host
    2900+ Users already - great mailing list :)
    Pretty much untapped revenue wise
    Great domain

    By the way, this site is very simple to transfer to a new buyer.. LayeredPanel.com host it and its just a case of them issuing new passwords to the new owner. The domain is on GoDaddy.com :)

    Was just PM'ed a question.
    Very little work involved in maintenance. Check for new support tickets from users. They are few and far between and most of them are very easy to answer, nothing really technical. For example, we ban certain filetypes for security reasons and a ticket might come in saying that they can't upload such a filetype.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    How big is your hosting account? (your offering users 1 Gig free??)
    It seems like a shared host would get over-crowed; is it a VPS, VDS or shared hosting?
    ~~~~~~~
    About the 'forced link': do you also have the script to 'force' Google ads?
    You can't include Google ads in a frame dude
    also how do you trust putting your google ad code with your ID on sites that you don't control it's content ? ! :confused:
    you can either use cpm banner advertiser or sell text links in that ad space ;)
    Some free hosts do force Google ads (not talking about iFrames); I don't claim to be doing it myself.
    • I know their are serious issues with 'trusting' other peoples content.
    ~~~~~~

    The relevance to this auction would be linked to making money off the existing traffic.

    Hi thank you for your question.

    My hosting account is not massive, 100Gb space, and 50Gb transfer per month. Obviously not everyone would use the full amount of space so its easy to offer large amounts. I use just under the 50Gb bandwidth per month. Its a shared hosting, actually LayeredPanel look after it for me so I have never had any issues. Its their script they are hosting so they are the experts and I'm happy with my experience with them.

    I can imagine selling text links would make a nice bit of money, I found a lot of new users came after clicking the text link to my site on the bottom of other users sites hosted by 101FreeHost.com

    So it would be effective advertising and potentially lucrative.

    Good point :cool:
