Free "hits referrer" stat counter?

I have a few blogs/sites not all the same host

is there a hit counter(or similar) that I can upload and see where
my hits are coming from in terms of the "referrer"?

so I can determine which ad or article or source they
    are coming from?

finances don't allow me to spend a cent at this time

even if I have to upload to each separately and log into
different accts to be able to see where my hits come
from I don't mind, especially since I'm hoping to find a free solution

    any direction would be appreciated!!

    AMF~!

    try statcounter.com

It's pretty good and gives you stats where visitors came from, what keywords they used to find you in search engines, where they go on your site, etc.

The free version only shows you the last 500 visitors to your site (you have to pay to see further back) but I found that gives you enough info on where your traffic is coming from.

oh and each site you add has it's own 500 limit, so you can use statcounter on multiple sites (just resistor the site and add some code)

    thanxs gbg,

seems to work good, and got it set up ...the 500 limit I see
but for now I think it's ok !!!!

any idea if blogpatrol has a similar limit on their free product?
(I assume there's is free as well)

Doesn't your host offer you free stats? I would get a new host or send them a nasty email if they don't.

I think you google analytic tools also let you know about traffic referring sites . I am using only google and satisfied with it . Many hosting company also offer free traffic tracking features in control panel . You can check that also . I am using hosgator and they provide this feature.

unfortunately I use "shared hosting", so all my domains
are counted in a group "stat counter"

at least that's what support explains to me
    and it makes sense

they explain as long as I use shared hosting they can't provide
the specifics for each domain I need, I would need t seek
    alternative stats

My choice goes to "Statcounter". Because you have many options to setup as per your requirements.

    - 500 free logs for each project , you can add many sites or pages. (older than 500 will be deleted automatically)
    - enable "blocking cookies" to avoid logging while you are visiting your own site.
    - you can download your logs in csv or excel format
    - come from, exit link, search key words and many more.

I have been using Statcounter for more than 3 years to all of my sites.
