    i am planin to start a forum but which will be the best free ( later if upgradation is possible) to get started for newbie ..
    will that be SMF or Phpbb ?? or myBb??
    Please kindly help

    Personally I would go for phpBB but most users nowadays prefer to use SMF.

    phpBB 3 is coming out soon so you can upgrade to that.

    Phpbb3 looks really cool actually, download the beta and try it. Of course beta is not recommended for live boards. It's good...got lot of vb functionalities....

    All the existing mods will not work with phpbb3, read here

    So, its just upto the mod writer if they will develop their mods for phpbb3.

    (something that just pisses me off) But anyhow, I know the arcade mod is being written for phpbb3 and that's pretty much all I have heard of.

    Hacked phpbb forums are very common on the web - save yourself the heartache and use SMF instead.

    I agree with Brian, SMF is the way to go. However, phpBB 3.0 might be the way to go once RC1 comes out...
