Hmm, I'm doing something important and I need some help.

I want to transfer a domain from the host I registered with.
But, heres the catch, I need it to be free.

(STOP, I know $10 is not a lot, and I can afford it...but in this case, I have to get it for free)

So, I searched and searched and found two places.

    http://getdotted.com/free-domain-name-transfers/

    http://www.domainmonster.com/transfer/

Anyone used these people? they good?

I think http://domainsite.com/ are offering free transfer, I have been using them for a year now and can recommend them.

You might want to take a look at the fine prints because there is almost always some catch to it.

Such as http://getdotted.com/free-domain-name-transfers/ , although it is free to transfer to them but you need to stay with them and renew through their higher than normal price tag at £15.99 a year and transferring out from them would cost you £12 adminstration fee.

Those web host which charges for transfers would add another 12 months to the expiration date so you actually do not lose anything.

And which companies are we talking here, registrars or resellers?

Fisker and eddy2099 practically nailed it. I've yet to know of any registrar who
offers no-cost domain registration transfers since Network Solutions did that a
few years ago, especially when the rewards are more uncertain than the risks.

Domain transfer is like renewing a domain name with other registrar because you get one full year added to the registration. I wouldn't go with the ones which are offering it for free because they would certainly charge more for coming renewals to cover up the cost.
