How many years do you have to register it to have the first year free?

And do you have to buy anything else to get the domain for free?

I once took advantage and registered a free domain name with Register(dot com), through my business.
Well, in all fairness, the domain registration was indeed 100% FREE.
However, I was required to place a credit card on file.

When I finally decided, months later, to sell it...I was unable to because most WHOIS searches would
not return correct results verifying I was the owner.
Tried to resolve that with them...not much luck.
So then I decided to transfer it out...WHAT A PAIN !!
In the end, I just decided to use it to forward a little bit of traffic...and when it comes up for renewal(soon)...
    I will let it expire.

If anyone registers a free domain with them, just be sure to read the AGREEMENT carefully and to make double and triple sure you
do not have it set to auto-renewal. Also, in their TOS, (I think)you will see that you have to specifically request not to get charged
for any services that you have not expressly agreed to.

    Just a thought.
