Lately I have been thinking of starting my own online dating site with skadate dating software. But.. yes there's always a but... since there's so many other dating sites online, i'm not sure whether or not there's still room for another free dating site.
I guess with the right marketing techniques, an online dating site definitely can work. There are just too many desperate males around ... so go for it, if you have a good business plan ^^
Room ? No one will give an inch space to you. You have to have make yourself. And that could be done if you offer something interesting and useful.

Best way I would go about it - target the females. Soon as you got girls on there, the guys come automatically My best bet would be advertising on sites mostly women go on (cooking, and other girl related sites) and other dating sites. Good luck

You could come up with a slightly different concept and run with it. I think there is no business out there where you won't have to deal with competition. Competition is healthy for any business and you should embrace it. The best person wins some of the times. This market is so saturated! What about starting a dating site with a specific niche? Then there will be more room to fit into these niches. (ex: a goth dating niche, etc)
Instead of a dating site, have you considered a community or social site dedicated to a particular subculture. What group of people do you intend to attract? A niche is simply a focus or narrow approach. Focusing on one very specific group of people or subculture will ensure growth into broader marketing techniques. Start small, grow slow. D

There are still room for new comer but you need to be creative enough to get member by starting out small and only targeting a small area such as your local community.
You are right to say that there are lots of dating sites online, but this absolutely does not mean that you can't be successful. If you think of a good unique conception for your site, choose the right niche and do proper SEO - you have all chances to grow really big. Success is all about details. Choose a good stylish design, write keyword-rich content, do off page SEO - and eventually you will reach the top. Success requires contribution.
by now..u must have got a website... lol any way, that's awesome idea but use proper techiniques and will work out well. Try to offer great many dating services for free which other sites are not doing around the web... well, be creative & go ahead...
